THE SSRR TTYD ADVOCACY TAS FLYER

Safety • Support • Research • Respect

My Advocacy Tool-Assisted Speedrun of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
All Crystal Stars + Pit of 100 Trials

🧩

My Purpose & Advocacy Mission

My TAS file is named SSRR, representing the four pillars I follow throughout the run:

S
Safety
I protect myself, my partners, and the viewer through trauma-informed pacing.
S
Support
I model emotional support through movement, resets, and advocacy moments.
R
Research
I highlight medical science, disease awareness, and documentation.
R
Respect
I treat vulnerable individuals with dignity, both in-game and in real life.

My Yoshi partner is Ruby, the blue Yoshi, symbolizing calm, cardiac awareness, and medical stability.

Because Yoshi's color is determined by timing, not RNG, if the hatch timing produces a different color (Red, Green, Orange, Pink, Black), I will still continue the run.

The SSRR mission remains unchanged regardless of Yoshi's color.

My Dual Advocacy Causes

Medical Research Funding

Supporting awareness for my terminal coronavirus-family illness, cancer research, and lung science.

The Fire Drill Emotional Support Act

Promoting safety, accommodations, and trauma-informed crisis support.

The Runtime Stability Rule

Live Chaos Management — My Engine Safety Protocol

TTYD becomes unstable when pushed to its limits. I use sequence breaks, RAM flushes, loading-zone skips, partner-swap glitches, map-transition exploits, Pit floor manipulation, and battle-state resets. These stress the engine, and I accept that crashes, freezes, softlocks, and RAM corruption will happen.

When instability strikes, I follow my Runtime Recovery Procedure:

  1. I press and hold START + X + B to perform a soft reset.
  2. If frozen, I force-shutdown my laptop.
  3. I reboot and relaunch Dolphin.
  4. I start TAS recording and pause on Frame 0.
  5. I reload my last valid TAS savestate.
  6. I unpause and continue.
  7. Most soft resets simply return me to the title screen, where I reload my file and continue.

Advocacy Safe-Guard: Softlocks never reduce funds. They symbolize the difficulty of navigating real crises and reinforce the resilience message of SSRR.

First-Person SSRR Pit Protocol

My complete rules for all 100 floors.

Floor Entry Ritual

Pause → small jump → spin

Grounding, stability, trauma-informed pacing.

Battle Requirements

Stylish moves, zero damage, tattle if applicable.

If I fail → Run Away → Safety Swap → soft reset if needed → re-enter.

Every 10 Floors

Advocacy pause with Ruby Yoshi.

Triggers a $50 CAD donation.

Soft Reset Warning

It is impossible to soft reset inside the Pit without losing progress.

I only soft reset if:

  • I get a Game Over
  • The game is misbehaving
  • The engine becomes unstable

High-Risk Floors

Slow movement, minimal swaps, readiness for soft reset.

Bonetail Protocol

Pause → jump → hammer tap → spin → stylish flourish.

Maximum force, maximum style, zero damage, mandatory tattle.

🖥️

Cutscene Stability Protocol

TTYD can overload during cutscenes, especially after glitches or Pit transitions.

If I mash too fast, the game may:

  • Refuse to advance text
  • Freeze mid-dialogue
  • Crash at inconsistent intervals

To prevent this, I use slow mashing with Frame Advance.

Safe Slow-Mash Patterns

AAAABBBB
A for 4 frames, B for 4 frames
AAABBB
A for 3 frames, B for 3 frames
AA→BB→repeat
A 2 frames → B 2 frames (fastest safe)

I use slow mashing whenever the engine shows instability. This is part of Safety and Support — protecting the run and pacing myself like a trauma-informed crisis response.
